The notions of human isolation and individualism have long been explored in literature across all different time periods, geographical regions, and genres. Leonardo Sciascia’s novel Porte Aperte explores these themes, as does Leopardi’s Operette Morali, especially in his work, “Dialogue between Nature and an Icelander”.
